Special Events Report - 2010

Legion Week

19 to 25 September 2010 has been proclaimed as Legion Week in the Provinces of Manitoba and Northwest Ontario.

#4 Legion is asking Members to volunteer to head and set up committees to conduct events for the branch during the above mentioned week.

Following are suggest events that may take place:

Seniors:

1.  Special Bingos
2.  Picnic, Excursions, Dinners
3.  Entertainment

Youth:

1.  Barbecues
2.  Sports events
3.  Honours & Awards for sponsored Cadets, Scouts, Guides
4.   Scholarship and Bursary Awards

Volunteer Members wishing to chair any above noted events or have other ideas they would like to chair, please contact Cde D.R. Halladay with Type of Event, Date and Time you wish to have coordinated so events will not conflict.

Veterans Day Luncheon

St. James Legion will be hosting our annual Veterans' Luncheon Tuesday 5^th October 2010, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Branch.

We invite all Veterans and chaperons to attend.

All Veterans and a limited number (2 max) of chaperons from Lodges/Homes will be provided a meal with entertainment.

All other attendees are quired to register at the Legion and will be assessed the cost of the meal at the time of registration.

The Legion will NOT be able to provide transportation where rentals are required; therefore individuals Lodges/Clubs must arrange pickup and drop off timings.

Please contact the Branch office (888-2860) when you determine your number of attendees. (We MUST know NLT Friday 1^st October for all attending numbers who require a meal).

Entertainment by Eric Murphy and Jan Miller on the piano.

Special Events Report

Mothers' Day brunch was a complete success with 156 in attendance. I would like to thank Ronn, Al, Bernie,d Marlin, Mary Ann, Gisele for volunteering their time and effort, (if I missed anyone I do apologize).

I must congratulate our Chief Cook and Bottle Washer in the canteen for the great steaks etc. he prepared for our Saskatchewan Night during the Command Convention, nothing but compliments from the visitors from across Canada.

Western Night - Saturday 24^th September
Veterans' Day Luncheon - Tuesday 5^th October
Halloween - Saturday 30^th October
Remembrance Day - Thursday 11^th November
New Years Eve Dance & Dinner - Friday 31^st December

New Years Levee - Saturday 1^st January 2011
